How to Make a Bacon Mac and Cheese Cone!
Even if you haven't had the pleasure of visiting Disney California Adventure, you probably have heard of these amazingly delicious bacon mac and cheese cones.
Don't fear- watch this video and follow on with the recipe under the video and you can create this decadent masterpiece at home! We're drooling already.
Ingredients
- For the pizza cones:
- Flour - (for the surface)
- 600g - ready to roll pizza dough
- For the mac and cheese:
- 450g - macaroni pasta
- Butter - 1/4 cup
- Flour - 1/4 cup
- Milk - 1 cup
- Cheddar cheese - shredded, 2 cups
- Cream cheese - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper
- Bacon - 6 rashers, fried and finely chopped
- You will also need:
- 6 manilla folders or large pieces of card
- Tape
- Foil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 220˚C.
- Roll the manila folder into a tight cone and secure with a piece of tape. Repeat this for 6 manilla cones. The wrap the entire outside of the cone tightly with foil. Spray foil on the outside of the cones with cooking oil.
- Roll our the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into 12 1-inch strips. Starting at the cone’s apex, wrap the dough around in a spiral motion, using more and more strips, making sure there are no gaps.
- Place the cones on baking tray covered in baking paper and place in the oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown, rotating once halfway.
- After letting cool slightly, remove from the cones gently and let cool completely.
- To make the mac and cheese: cook the macaroni as per the packet instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot over a medium heat, melt the butter then add the flour. Cook, stirring occasionally until the flour is browned. Add the milk gradually, whisking as you go until smooth. Then add the cheese, cream cheese and season. Continue to whisk, stirring well to combine, then add the pasta.
- To construct the cones: Fill each cone to the brim with the mac and cheese mix then sprinkle the bacon crumble on top. Yum!
