Spiced Lamb Burgers
Ingredients
- White onion - 1/2, chopped very fin
- Lamb mince - 450g
- Dijon mustard - 2 tbsp
- Dried parsley - 2 tbsp
- Mint - 2 tbsp, finely chopped
- Cumin - 1/2 tbsp
- Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Ground coriander seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Oregano - 1 tbsp
- Garlic - 3 cloves, crushed
- Salt and black pepper
- To serve:
- Feta - 50g, crumbled
- Lemon juice - of 1 lemon
- Yoghurt - 30g
- Salt and pepper
- Mixed leaves - A small handful per serving
- Cucumber - sliced
- Pita wraps - or burger buns
Instructions
- Heat an oiled frypan over a high heat. Add onions and cook until browned about 6 minutes.
- Transfer onions to a plate and allow to cool.
- In a medium mixing bowl, mix onions, lamb, mustard, herbs, spices, garlic, salt and pepper.
- Form meat with hands into 2-3 patties, depending on desired size, and place aside on a plate.
- Heat a large non-stick oiled pan to a medium high heat. Grill burgers, flipping once, until browned (about 10 minutes cooking time total for medium rare).
- In a small bowl, combine feta, yoghurt and lemon juice. Mix well and season to taste.
- Serve burgers hot with yoghurt dressing, sliced cucumber and mixed leaves in a pita wrap or burger buns.
